The UTC gym is a valuable asset and should be treated as such. Responsibility for the gym’s condition is shared between users, students, staff and respective maintenance contractors. Users of UTC gym must therefore abide by the following code of conduct and be aware that user safety, the gym’s continued existence and any future financial investment in equipment is dependent on the population respecting the facility and abiding by the following rules

  1. While every effort is made to make the gym clean and safe, users train in the facility at their own risk.
  2. Whilst using all equipment at UTC you must use a towel for hygiene purposes
  3. Spring collars must be used and secured at all times when using free weights.
  4. For hygiene purposes and for the respect for others No street shoes can be worn any training mats at any time
  5. Street shoes can only be worn on black mats within this facility,(weights area and walk ways only) please have respect for your fellow training partners
  6. Do not leave empty drinks bottles or other litter in the gym, use the bin provided.
  7. Upon finishing with free weights please break them down and replace plates on the weight tree. Please ensure that barbells in the barbell holder. Do not leave loose plates or bars on the floor.
  8. Do not wipe your hands on the walls and please check your footwear that you are not carrying mud into the gym facility.
  9. Please abide by gym rules and Etiquette at all times
  10. Please be respectful of those entering / leaving the gym.
  11. Any accidents, injuries or incidents should be reported promptly to a UTC staff member asap
